Key Stage 3
Key Stage 3 years runs from years 7 to 9. Students then choose GCSE options during year 9 for Key Stage 4.
The curriculum at Key Stage 3 brings together all of the essential knowledge students need to achieve their academic goals combined with a range of co-curricular opportunities.
Students follow the National Curriculum and are taught and assessed on the following areas:
• English
• Mathematics
• Science
• History
• Geography
• Religious Studies
• Languages: Spanish, or Chinese
• Design Technology
• Food
• Drama
• Music
• Art
• IT and Computer Science
• Physical Education
In each subject area students are taught a demanding curriculum to prepare them for academic success at GCSE, A level and beyond. They learn new information, new skills, and new habits of working harder than they have before.
In addition to these core subject areas, we teach a Knowledge Curriculum, which gives students the knowledge that will be expected of them in exams and later life, but which is not a part of the National Curriculum. This ensures that all of our students can achieve their full academic potential. Personal, Social and Health Education is taught through the subjects as well as having individual ‘drop down’ days which are run by external organisations.
