In the first week of the summer holidays, children from a cluster of secondary schools were invited to take part in the activities on offer.
St Joseph's College and Westwood Language College for girls both opened part of their schools to pupils from schools in the area. At Westwood Language College for girls, 40 children spent their afternoons working on an Art Project, taking digital photographs which they then screen printed on to fabric. The results of their work could be used towards their course work.
Also at Westwood Language College for girls, 2 sport's teachers put on a full week of multi-sport activities. This included trampoline, hockey, football and Salsa dance. Chris Edwards, a former member of Tap Dogs also taught the beginnings of tap dance routines. He may be back to give them a weekly class after school in the autumn. At St Joseph's College activities had to be limited because of the building works that were going on. However 15 children took part in multi-sports and drama workshops for the week. All the children had a good time. Many thanks to the sponsors and to the teachers who gave up some of their holiday.
