8Y1 Science class participated in a project led by STEM club leaders from Year 9 as a part of a BTEC STEM leader qualification.
The students in Year 9 worked alongside Year 8 students in groups of 2-3, to make a zoetrope with a solar panel and animated images connected to a motor.
This proved to be a fun and positive learning experience, which motivated students into seeing the enjoyable side of science and technology, and to explore different renewable energy sources.
We practiced communication with all of class 8Y1, and demonstrated forms of leadership. This can be practiced in different cross-curricular activities, such as music, maths, sports or software development.
The activity contributed towards the BTEC qualification - Unit 12: Practicing Leadership Skills with others, and Planning and Running an Enterprise Activity. Congratulations to all the students involved and for making this a valuable learning experience for all.
