On Friday 29th January, staff and students at St Joseph's College, Beulah Hill welcomed local MP Rt.Hon. Malcolm Wicks and 4 times British Olympian, Donna Fraser to their school to unveil two large mosaics which have been made by Art students at the College to commemorate the 1948 and 2012 London Olympics.

After the short ceremony, a group of Chinese students from a school in Beijing, who have been visiting the College, presented an Olympic flag to mark the passing of the Olympic games from Beijing in 2008 to London in 2012.

Last December, St. Joseph's was awarded the status of 'Confucius Classroom' by the Chinese Government. The College is now a Centre of Excellence for Mandarin teaching and Chinese Culture. The College is only the 12th school in the country to gain this award. Nearly 500 students at the College are studying Mandarin.
