The 6th Form has a dynamic and focused Student Leadership Team.
Near the end of the academic Year, Year 12 students are invited to apply for the 4 main Head Student roles for the following year. Students fill out an application and then go through an intensive interview process that condenses applicants down to 4. From the final 4, a Head Student is elected and his/her 3 deputies.
Once the 4 senior positions are filled, the new Head Students set about forming the full body of student leaders for the following year. Each of the Deputy Head Students has a strand that they are responsible for and the following bodies are elected after Head Student led interviews:
The Head Students also help set up and monitor the school’s TEAM Mentoring program. TEAM = Transition, Emotional and Academic Mentoring. All 6th Form Students mentor a Year 7 boy through his first year at St Joseph’s College. It is a form of Big Brother/Sister mentoring.
Every single 6th Former is involved in Student Leadership at St Joseph’s College. This is an integral part of the 6th Form experience and supports students throughout their HE application process.
