VTCT Extended Diploma in Sport with Chelsea Futsal

If so, the St Joseph’s College Extended Diploma in Sport in partnership with Chelsea FC Foundation is for you.
This unique and exclusive course develops your skills through both theory and practical sessions. Students benefit from the College’s outstanding quality of teaching and academic support alongside excellent sporting facilities and the highest quality coaching from Chelsea FC Foundation.
The Extended Diploma in Sport is a qualification that is designed to provide pupils with the specialist sports science related knowledge, understanding and skills that are required for career or higher education advancements. The qualification offers an exciting and engaging academic programme for those who are keen to advance their sports science expertise as well as being challenged to work well with others, manage their own development and learn to communicate effectively in a variety of situations.
The Extended Diploma in Sport is a full time two year course and carries the same UCAS points as 3 A- levels. Students do not have to sit any exams; rather they will complete a number of assignments through the two years covering diverse sports science-related areas such as:

• Sports Injuries
• Health and Safety in Sport
• Training and Fitness for Sport
• Fitness Testing for Sport and Exercise
• Sports Nutrition
• Psychology for Sports Performance
• The Athlete’s Lifestyle
• Sports Coaching
• Technical and Tactical Skills in Sport

Assessment is 50% coursework and 50% exam based and will be generated through a range of activities including written reports, practical work, poster presentations, leaflet design, observation and oral assessment.
Alongside studies, students will also complete Football and Futsal Coaching and refereeing certificates whilst training weekly with professional coaches. Students will also represent Chelsea FC Foundation, competing against other professional Futsal teams in the prestigious English Football Trust National Futsal League.
Progression from the Course
The course has been developed in order to give you a solid foundation within sports science, enabling you to develop essential study skills. This qualification includes many transferable skills, which play an essential role in developing personal effectiveness for further study and working life. Key skills provide a basis for continual learning and these will aid you in facing the inevitable series of choices in work, education and training throughout your life. The development of such skills will prove invaluable in assisting progress to higher education, further qualifications and/or the enhancement of employment opportunities. GCSE entry requirements:
Essential: Minimum of four GCSEs at grade C.
Desirable: grade C in Physical Education. .
