On the 1st of July, a group of group of 5 year 9 students were chosen specifically to compete in the prestigious, national level, BP young scientist challenge of 2010. Their task was to design and create a small boat that would be made to sail quickly and efficiently by harnessing power of wind. They were provided with limited resources which they used to construct a fast yet good looking boat. They were marked on its speed, design and teamwork. There were 23 schools competing to make the finest boat design. In the end, the pupils did fantastically, and although they had the fastest boat, they came third in the whole competition.

The participating pupils were: Jeffrey Chui Hom Lap, Ewan Vaz, Emmanuel Adeyeye, Jedidiah Hungbeme and Oluwagbemileke Onile-Ere.
