On Wednesday morning, 17 students and 2 teachers from the 'Beijing National Day school' had lessons in English, from Ms Stockman and Mathematics from Mr. Skinner . In the afternoon they were put in groups of 5 with students from the College who are studying Mandarin. The groups had to, investigate the causes and effects of Climate Change and what they could do to help solve the problem. They finished the day off by giving a 5 minute presentation, in English on their findings.
Students from the 'High School affiliated to the Beijing Institute of Technology' visited the College on Thursday and Friday. They had similar lessons plus a Singing lesson with Mr. Sanders and Mr. Davies and a Food Technology lesson, during which they learned to cook English pancakes with Ms. Troendle.
The visit coincided with the visit from the local MP Malcolm Wicks and former Olympic athlete Donna Fraser. They were in the College to unveil the Mosaics that were produced by our Art students to celebrate the 2012 Olympic Games in London. The visiting Chinese students gave an Olympic flag to our students to celebrate the fact that the last Olympics was in their city, Beijing, and the next Olympics is in London. All the students involved signed the flag along with the teachers and guests. |
