Important Changes to the Year 9 English Curriculum
As schools are no longer obliged to do the SATs exams at the end of the school year, the English Department has decided that Year 9 will be a preparation year for the English Language GCSE course. As a result of this, Year 9 will have three major examinations throughout the school year, which will reflect the GCSE curriculum and final examination.
The three assessments will be as follows:
Examination One: Written exam on writing to argue, persuade and advise (December 2009)
Examination Two: Print Media Exam (March 2010)
Examination Three: Poetry Exam (July 2010)
Please note: Pupils and parents/guardians will be informed of the exact dates nearer to the time.
The English Department will be taking these examinations very seriously and it is vital that all pupils ensure they prepare thoroughly for them and that during the exam they work to the best of their ability.
Should you have any queries, please do not hesitate to contact a member of the English Department.
