St Joseph's College will be hosting an adult learning course starting on Saturday 7th May 2011 - this is open to all adults. This is an opportunity to brush up your Maths and English and is completely free to all. The course is for 11 weeks and if passed will deliver a level 1 or level 2 certificate in English and/or Maths. As this is a very short course entrants must be able to add, subtract, use a calculator etc. and read and write English to a reasonable level and the first session will be an assessment and induction. The final session will include taking the tests - each subject will have a 40 question multiple choice test paper and this will be taken in the normal classroom. If successful 2 certificates will be sent - one for Maths and one for English. The only application criteria is that the person applying needs to have lived in either the UK or Europe for the past 3 years and will need to bring either a NI number or a passport/photo driving licence as proof of identity. You can be working or not working and the course is free but a donation of £1 per week is requested to cover photocopy costs and tea/coffee. There are 8 places available. There are NO childcare facilities available. If you would like to reserve a place then please contact me either by telephone or e-mail - I will be out of the office on leave from 28th April to 6th May, so please book a place by e-mail after 28th April or telephone before and I will contact you to give you the directions etc.
